Cool temps made for a great week of urban foraging. Our team of brewers and bartenders worked together, gathering (and brewing with) native violet flowers, and native magnolia leaves, and invasive wisteria flowers -- all within a few blocks of the brewery.
Central Park, a foraged hazy IPA, is fermenting away. It'll be ready in early May. Like last year's Wild Durham, it'll feature modern hops with floral and herbal layers.
A year ago, as the pandemic was just beginning to make its impact known, we cautiously collaborated with Durham Beat to gather redbuds, cherry blossoms, henbit and rosemary.
While we missed foraging this year with our favorite gonzo journalists, we'll meet up and collaborate again: Wilder Durham returns this fall.
For now, hope is in the air -- in Central Park and beyond.
