All are welcome, especially Durham newcomers! Drop in anytime between 6–8pm.

February's topic is MAKERS!

    YOUR FEBRUARY HELLO, DURHAM HOSTS

    • SELF-PUBLISHING: Eli Rainwater (she/her) is an "over-caffeinated urban fantasy author, cat lady, and gardener" who looks forward to chatting about self-publishing, content creation, the writing process, and overcoming procrastination.
    • STEAM SERVICES: Kyle Lampart (he/they) works with the Durham County Library's Maker + STEAM services and its mission to empower a community of makers, encourage creation, foster innovation. Kyle's passions are 3D printing and modeling, space science fiction, and all things mechanical, from car repair to yo-yos.
    • SCRAP EXCHANGE: Hannah (she/they) Hannah works for The Scrap Exchange and has been actively involved in Reusefor years. As an artist, they source all of their materials secondhand, and enjoy creating pieces from items some would consider "trash" (not Hannah, though!). Everything should get a second chance to be something great. Why shouldn't a bottle cap, or one million bread tags get one too?

THINGS TO DO AND MILL ABOUT

    • The Durham County Library will offer a library card sign up and a "Blind Date with a Book" program. Take a wrapped book home for free!
    • Because social interactions in a post-COVID world make us all anxious, and because having something tactile makes it easier for many of us to hold an adult conversation. The Scrap Exchange is providing "making materials," and even guiding us on how to make them.
