Fortunate Son: Kiwi
Kiwi Hazy
Juicy
When our friends at Durham's Happy Dirt offered up slightly damaged California kiwi fruit, we hesitated.
Until walked outside into 20 degree temps. And 20 mph wind gusts.
And quickly placed our order: 150 pounds of (perfectly fine and really delicious) Kiwi fruit.
Fortunate Son: Kiwi is a "take us to a better February" beer, full of New Zealand hops and tart California kiwi fruit. So we don't stray too far from our mission, the lightly hazy beer features Riverbend oats and wheat to ensure we don't forget our roots and purpose.
We get notes of white grape, stone fruit, and, of course, tart kiwi. It's light on the haze and ABV, so don't be surprised if you see more lacing in your glass than beer - it's an easy drinker.
So if, like us, you can't get away to the other side of the world, Fortunate Son: Kiwi is a nice little escape to a place where winter still means winter, but February means something else entirely.
